March Community Letter

March 6, 2019

Dear Central Christian Community,

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
To quote Philipians 1:3, “I thank my God every time I remember you.” This past week in chapel, Athletic Director Zach Kooker thanked CCS students for their behavior as fans at the Girls Basketball District semi-final game. He told the students that he often receives compliments from officials who notice that Central fans cheer and encourage Central’s players without tearing down the other team.

That spirit of generosity and encouragement flowed through the elementary school as they collected funds in the weeks before Christmas to purchase goats through Mennonite Central Committee’s giving project. During November and December, students and their families followed a giving calendar with challenges like, “Count your shoes today and give a penny for each shoe you have,” or “Give 25 cents for every hour of TV you watch.” When you see a Central elementary student, thank them for giving 38 goats to families in Haiti.

The CCS Annual Auction, coming up this Saturday, March 9, will be a celebration of generosity. The Auction raises money for the Fair Balance Tuition Fund. This fund makes it possible for Central to have variable tuition rates for families. CCS does not want to be an exclusive or elite school. The Auction Day invites the Central community to share in the significant investment of a Christ-centered education for the students who attend the school.

The Auction date changed this year to match the schedule of Joseph Mast, an alumnus and parent who volunteers his expertise as Auctioneer. Joseph creates the excitement and atmosphere that makes it fun to give. This year, for the first time, it will be possible to preview Auction items and to bid online.  Please visit: to register for online bidding if you are unable to attend in person. Please consider this option so that you can be a part of the giving community!

Please pray:

1.    For health for the cast, crew, and pit orchestra members of our upcoming Musical, Tarzan. The performance dates of March 15 and 16 fall at the peak of flu season.  The musical participants and their Director, Kelly Beun, have worked hard and we pray for strength. Tickets for the musical may be purchased online by visiting this link:

2.    For those singing in the High School District Choir Contest, for High School Science Olympiad participants, and for the Middle School Spelling Bee contestant to do their best as they compete on March 9 as the rest of us work to support them through the Auction.

3.    For faith, resiliency, strength, and wisdom for CCS faculty and staff.

4.    For CCS seniors as they enter their last months of high school, do hard work, and plan for their futures.
