The first Saturday in March is a date Central Christian supporters and the surrounding community highlight on their calendars as a day of fun as well as an opportunity to support a mission they love and believe in.
The support Central sees for their institution is never more evident than on the first weekend in March. This year, the Annual Auction takes place on Saturday, March 4. The day’s events begin at 7 am with a pancake and sausage breakfast supporting the Central athletic department. There will also be lunch served, including chicken and ham sandwiches, pizza and coffee provided by Sure House Coffee in Wooster. The auction will begin at 9 am, highlighted by world-renowned auctioneer Joseph Mast, a 1999 Central graduate.
“The auction helps support the school's operating budget, as well as financial assistance to families to make private education affordable,” says Joel Otto, Business Manager at Central. “The level of support we see for the auction is phenomenal; it’s humbling. We have calls from individuals months in advance asking what they can donate. People reach out to us wanting to make a difference and take ownership in making the auction successful.”
The annual Central Christian auction has received huge support from a number of area businesses and individuals who understand the value of continued support for the work Central Christian puts into educating and fostering relationships with students. “In recent years, it has been really neat to see a number of our students give back to the school by donating to the auction. This year, senior Kevin Pasho is donating one-on-one soccer lessons, senior Elaina Lowe is donating a series of golf lessons, Jen Kindbom's mini-term group has donated the quilt they created, and senior Elijah Steffen is donating a cajon (percussion instrument) that he made. When students see the value of sharing their gifts and talents this way, you know you’ve got a win-win with this event.” says Otto. “The auction offers everything from vacation packages to a Ventrac tractor, to car tires or large bags of birdseed. There is something for everyone. It’s a great day.”
