Middle School at Central Christian School

Growing in Faith, Knowledge, and Character

Middle School at Central Christian School is a time of transformation, when students move from childhood to young adulthood and begin to understand who God created them to be. Within a Christ-centered community, our 5th–8th grade students are challenged academically, nurtured spiritually, and supported relationally during these important years of growth.

At Central Christian, middle school provides a gradual and supportive transition into high school, offering strong academic, athletic, and social opportunities. Students are rooted in faith through daily Heart of Central time, Bible classes, devotions, and chapel. In the classroom, hands-on and experiential learning are central. Students are encouraged to explore, discover, and enjoy the process of learning while making meaningful connections across subject areas.

At CCS, our mission remains at the heart of all we do: to know Christ and to make Him known.

Faith Formation

Faith is woven into every aspect of life at CCS. Through daily devotions, Bible classes, daily Chapel, and service experiences, students deepen their understanding of God’s Word and learn how to apply it to everyday life. Teachers model authentic faith, guiding students to develop a personal relationship with Christ and encouraging them to live out their faith with purpose and compassion.

Academic Excellence

Our middle school academic program builds a strong foundation for high school and beyond. Students are engaged in core subjects — Bible, language arts, math, science, and history — while developing skills in critical thinking, collaboration, and communication. With small class sizes, teachers are able to know each student well and provide the support and challenge they need to thrive.

Enrichment opportunities, electives, and hands-on learning help students explore their interests and discover how God has uniquely gifted them.

Athletics

Our athletic program helps students develop perseverance, teamwork, and Christlike sportsmanship. Middle school athletes compete in a variety of sports while learning to balance discipline and humility, competition and character. Coaches emphasize playing with purpose — giving one’s best effort for God’s glory, not personal recognition. Middle school students can begin participating in 6th grade. Sports include volleyball, soccer, boys basketball and girls basketball

Fine Arts

Through the fine arts, students are encouraged to express creativity and recognize God as the ultimate Creator. Middle school students have opportunities to participate in choir, band, drama, and visual arts. Private lessons are also available. Whether performing on stage or creating in the studio, students learn discipline, collaboration, and confidence as they use their talents to glorify God.

Leadership and Character Development

At CCS, leadership begins with service. Students are encouraged to take initiative, serve others, and set a positive example within their community. Through student council, Chapel participation, mentoring younger students, and community service projects, middle schoolers grow in responsibility, empathy, and integrity.

Community and Relationships

Relationships are at the heart of the CCS middle school experience. Teachers partner closely with parents and walk alongside students as mentors, helping them navigate both the challenges and joys of adolescence. Students build lasting friendships and experience the safety and belonging of a community grounded in Christ’s love.

Planned activities are arranged twice a month where middle school students serve as mentors to elementary students through Reading Buddies or Heart of Central activities they help lead. In turn, middle school students are mentored by high schoolers through Operation Connection and Heart of Central events organized by the older students. These intentional opportunities make it easy for meaningful connections to form and for natural, encouraging relationships to grow across grade levels, even in everyday hallway interactions.

Unique Experiences

Special events such as retreats, class trips, and service days give students the chance to bond, grow in independence, and connect their learning to the world around them. Each experience is designed to help students see God’s work in their lives and the lives of others.

  • School Day Out
  • 5th and 6th Grade Outdoor Education
  • Community Service Day
  • Mini-term
  • Operation Connection
A multi-age mentoring program where high school juniors and seniors are paired with a seventh or eighth grade student. Students participate in monthly activities, and sit beside each other in daily chapel second semester.
  • Operation Connection Jr.
Fifth and sixth grade students are paired with an elementary student reading buddy.
  • 7th Grade Service Learning Experience
Students spend afternoons exploring the implications of Jesus’ words in Matthew 25:35, “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me."
Key points for this opportunity include Christlike character development, community engagement, leadership skills, sense of belonging, and alignment with curriculum standards.
  • 8th Grade Service Learning Trip
Partnering with Lighthouse Ministries in Canton, Ohio, students are given a variety of experiences to help them develop a life-long passion for serving in a Christ-like way. The Lighthouse Service-Learning Program is built on serving, learning through education sessions centered on the issue of poverty, and relating by assisting with an after school program with kids from different backgrounds than their own.
