Opportunities to serve is a value Central Christian prioritizes as we seek to live out the teachings of Jesus. Service allows our students to witness and participate in building Jesus’ Kingdom. We believe it empowers them to be faithful to the call of Jesus. It helps them develop awareness to see where they can be the serving hands of Jesus while also developing the courage to act. Central works to instill the mindset that service is not viewed as a project, but as a way of life. Through service opportunities at Central Christian School, students learn real life skills, grow in their walk with Christ, and recognize the joy that comes in serving others.
Service Opportunities
- Senior Service-Learning Retreat: Seniors spend three days serving alongside communities and individuals in Pennsylvania.
- Eighth Grade Lighthouse Ministries Trip: The eighth-grade class spends five days and nights at Lighthouse Ministries in Canton. They volunteer in after-school programs for at-risk youth, participate in a poverty simulation, tour the city, and visit a homeless shelter.
- Community Service Day: Each fall, the entire student body participates in Community Service Day. High school students serve at churches and local non-profit organizations, while elementary and middle school students choose a location and activity that matches their interests.
- Service in the Curriculum: Opportunities for service are also built into mini-term courses, Heart of Central, and regular classroom curriculum. Students serve in places such as food pantries, with Mennonite Disaster Service, meat canning operations, and more.
Student Reflections

“I am so thankful and blessed to have had the opportunity Central gave us this March in going to Southeast Canton. We learned how to treat other people; peers, adults, and the kids; how we want to be treated, and that it is so important to show God’s love to everyone we meet. Central provides a unique opportunity that teaches its students how to truly live out the gospel through real experiences, memorable for the rest of our lives.” -Isabelle Rohrer, Class of 2027
